This is an extraordinarily small way of storing data. One electrical signal in the horizontal bars and one the vertical set can address a single molecule storing a single bit of data. I have allowed a bunch of "mistakes" to creep into the painting with some of these being intentional and others well, just mistakes... Hopefully this will inspire onlookers to serendipity. On a technical point, we have not yet reached the ultimate goal of addressing single molecules but Professor Stoddart and his team are definitely heading that way.
